thoricuncle 19
Ok, by checking this forum, I have figured out that I have recently purchased a "Sie-Guh". Before buying my Saiga, ordering ammo was easy. I could ask for 9mm or .40 or 12 gauge or .308 and get just what I wanted. However, ordering ammo has proven to be a problem. What is the proper way to say "7.62 x 39" I was calling around pricing ammo and I kept having to repeat myself until they understood what I wanted. So that is my question, How do you refer to the ammo? Is there some cool inside way of ordering this ammo? Edited August 24, 2010 by thoricuncle
jbrubaker 13
Normally I just wave my hammer and sickle around in the air until someone gets me what I need. Short of that working, "seven six two by thirty nine" works for me. Of course these are only in the cases that I'm not ordering online...
MN.9130 44
I would say, "Seven six two by three nine". I would NEVER say ".308 ANYTHING", EVER, unless I was referring to .308 Winchester or 7.62x51mm NATO, Neither of which are 7.62x39mm. The last one, while I can tell, is probably a joke, could actually cause more harm than guaffahs: The Soviets, and now the Russians, have used the 5.45x39mm round in their "AKs" (Specifically the AK-74 and later AK-1xx variants) for over three decades. TR Young 175
I ask for "seven sixty-two by thirty nine"
shades_of_grey 1,092
"Where's your Russian seven six two by three nine ammo, sir?" I've yet to run into any confusion or have to repeat myself. Edited August 19, 2010 by post-apocalyptic
chevyman097 2,579
I say whater rolls off the tongue at the time. If they dont know or act stupid...well then they are just stupid. Can we burn that poll by chance?....
fflincher 8
I've had total success when asking for "Thirty Russian short." That serves to differentiate what I want from 7.62X54R, which by extension might be "Thirty Russian long."
paprotective 362
Could also say AK47 or SKS ammo... with the 7 6 2 by 39 ammo. Any decent firearms store will know SKS ammo.. at least here in PA/NJ anyway. Al
cpg 0
Normally I just wave my hammer and sickle around in the air until someone gets me what I need. LOL! Where is the avatar for that?!?! Seven sixty two by thirty nine.
22_Shooter 1,560
I've only bought 7.62x39 in a store once, and I didn't have to ask for it. I just went and picked it up off the shelf. Otherwise, I get it online. But I voted "Seven six two by thirty nine", as that's how I say it when speaking about it. When I'm typing and referring to 7.62x39, I'll usually get lazy and just say "x39".
Rhodes1968 1,638
Used just "x39" for a long time no problem being understood.
RobRez 1,895
I just ask for the terrorist ammo that goes in those big bad spooky guns!! Oh, and remember to say "that shit is da' BOMB!" mumbling the first part but yelling the Bomb part. That seems to go over well for me. Falcon09 22
I usually say "seven six two three nine". Too bad I don't live in Forestburg, TX 76239 or Lake Tomahawk, WI 54539.
whitetrashrn 74
I just check the box that looks like this , and then in about 5 days a big box, crate, tin, it is dropped at my door. When I get the YUGO surplus I get to hear the delivery guy bitching all the way to the door and and back to the truck. 7.62X39
mgconnor13 206
I order my ammo online or just walk into the story and pick up what I want and check out.
