scattergun10 125
Hey all. I just picked up a new Saiga 12 (IZ-109) today. I got it home and field stripped it to wipe off the cosmoline and to put a couple drops of oil on the rails. I noticed whenever I reassembled it, that there is some back and forth play with the dust cover. It's not really loose because of the tension of the recoil spring, but it doesn't go all the way forward into the notch behind the rear sight post. I also have a Saiga rifle, but its dust cover does not do this. There is no play whatsoever, it fits very tight and stays all the way forward. Is this normal with the Saiga 12, or is it something I should be concerned about ? Is this something that would be covered under warranty ? Maybe they could send me another dust cover, hopefully one that fits better. I just don't want it backing out of the notch and flying off while I'm shooting. Thanks in advance. wired 27
Normal AK stuff. Top covers are like women. Some are tight, some are loose. If you can pull it off by hand without depressing the spring then it will never come out on its own. If it bugs you you can bend the lip out a bit where it sits in the rear trunnion. shades_of_grey 1,092
I've found that little bit of play in the dustcover to be fairly common on Saiga-12's. Not so on Saiga rifles.
