scattergun10 125
I just got my Saiga 12 a few days ago. I noticed that the factory finish is very basic and tends to scratch rather easily. I was sorta concerned about possible rust in the exposed areas. I was thinking of refinishing it with some Alumahyde II (matte black) to give it an extra layer of protection. I've heard its pretty good stuff, only downside is the looooong curing time.(2 weeks I think) Thoughts ?
sapper1371usmc 107
Go for it. The original finish is fine and does it's job as long as you do yours and keep the gun clean and lubricated. But f you do refinish it, the time to do it would be after you convert it if you haven't done so yet. Post pics when you're done

Restoring the weapon to its proper configuration leaves bare metal where you remove the stupid plate on the bottom of the receiver, so a refinish is recommended anyway. Might as well go ahead and spend a hundred bucks on basic conversion parts.
