Woo hoo izzy mag came in

Recommended Posts

If you want the utmost reliability & versatility, from a MIL-SPEC mag to bring your gun to the level it was intended to be at.... You gotta pay to play.

The Russian mags are what all the other stick-mags wish they could be, but if you clip a wall while running through your house with your US stick mags, the polymer front tab may break off & leave you with a single-shot shotgun that's a bitch to quickly reload.

Same if you slip in the mud while running.

The Russian 8s are steel reinforced in the front for this very reason.

So, my question is, how much are your family's & your lives worth???

$130.00 is chump-change to me, when compared to my GF's, or even dog's life.

Customs has made these a bitch to import in mass, so you gotta pay the extra cash.

There's a reason that although I have many capacities, I keep a Russian-8 locked & loaded with 3" 15 pellet magnum .00 buck at all times. (of course I keep a 3" slug as the second round, or top mag-round that rests against the bolt, to prevent deformation over the long-term)

The MD-20 is also steel reinforced & has NEVER hicuped on me, so that would be my second grab, but it only takes 2 3/4".

Everything else is range use only as far as I'm concerned.... Until MD's double-stacks come out, that is.... He IS reinforcing the front lips on those, right?

why cant US make the same design mag ? or similar ?

It's much more expensive to make a tool & process to mold steel reinforcement parts into polymer.

MD spent the extra, The Russians did also, but none of the 3 US S-12 stick manufacturers did.

well for the price of the one russian mag, you could get 2 of mikes drums on sale right now.

That's a true statement, but it ignores the fact that not everything is about the price.

Not everyone is in love with the drums. They make the gun difficult to move and shoulder and they don't take magnum shells. Do you want to be the guy in court when the attorney pulls out a converted Saiga 12 with a 20 round drum hanging from the bottom for the jury to see? Gonna feel kinda silly arent you? 9 rounds of 3 inch #4 are more than enough to finish the job in a HD situation.

Same here. If I could ever find a deal on em, (3 for $270-$290 or similar), I'd love to pick some up. But for ~$130+ apiece, I'd rather put the money toward more ammo or firearms.

I can't wait for Mike's double-stacks, (btw Pauly, iirc, they will have steel-reinforced front lugs). I think they'll dominate the market. Better than Russian 8's... and a lot less expensive, (reasonably priced).

ymmv.

Actually 5 rounds in the Russian 5 rounder is enough to neutralize a HD threat. And talk about reliability...
