UGlide 2
I have the Gabe Suarez training video "Saiga Shotgun Gunfighting" (I thought it was quite good by the way) and it appears to me that he has the Krebs front sight and the original notched rear sight. Is there an alignment advantage/disadvantage to Gabe's configuration? In other words, by keeping the factory rear sight, could there be a sight alignment problem? For example, might the original rear notch sight be too low to properly align with the front sight? Note that Krebs front and rear sights are sold as a set from Carolina Shooters Supply. See the link. http://store.carolin...2-Custom/Detail I've observed comments here that removing the rear sight is a pain in the ___. Therefore, I do not want to do so unless you guys/gals really believe I should. Thanks in advance for your comments/advice. Edited September 24, 2010 by UGlide
Paulyski 2,227
I haven't seen the video, but any chance he has just a raised front sight? http://www.saiga-12.com/proddetail.asp?prod=EFS-M3 Or maybe the Dinzag front sight? http://www.dinzagarms.com/saiga_12/fsbs12.html & not the Krebs custom? http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-272/Krebs-Saiga-12-Custom/Detail Edited September 23, 2010 by Paulyski
hobbyshooter 59
Agreed. I doubt he's running krebs front sight post with the factory rear sight. That would put slugs way low from the point of aim.
UGlide 2
Paulyski, the front sight on Gabe Suarez' Saiga-1 does not have the window (or whatever you call it) as does the first two examples you show. The front sight in a close-up shot in the video looks IDENTICAL to the Krebs. Here is a so-so photo of the front and rear sights on the video cover: http://www.onesourcetactical.com/images/view.aspx?productId=15070 Are you guys saying that the Krebs sight is probably too tall? If so, would the rear sight that comes with the Krebs set put the sights in proper alignment?

I think the krebs has an adjustable front sight like AKs... I could be wrong though, but it would be hard to make a front sight like that where the sight post didn't screw in & make sure it's acurate. This pic leads me to believe the front's adjustable... On the other hand, Didn't Dinzag's first raised front sights have no hole & attach like the krebs & the Russian that makc sells (when he's in stock)? I think those were before my time, but Gabe has been around these much longer than myself, so I'll defer to someone who's been around longer than I... Isn't Gabe a member here? ETA; Yeah, I'm certain the Krebs rear sight would match up with the front... Many members here run them & I'm sure there'd be a running shit-storm that I'd have noticed by now if it didn't. hobbyshooter 59
He may have cut the top of the rear Krebs ring open. I can't really tell by that pic. Yes the krebs is taller than the factory bead.
grommit666 24
The Kreb's front sight is adjustable. It does look like he's using the Kreb's front with the stock rear.
sputnik360 2
I have the Krebs front and rear on my S12 right now. It can work with the factory rear sight. That is how I lined up the front sight to make sure it wasn't crooked. I put the front on first and then looked down the factory sights to make sure that the new sights lined up. The new front post was perfectly shadowed by the old front post at it lowest setting. I actually plan to revert to this setting as soon as I get my factory rear sight in the mail (I had to dremel mine out). The Krebs is a nice sight, but it is no good for trap shooting since you can't see the clay while leading it. As soon as I get the rear sight back on, I'll give you a report of how it performs. If I have enough adjustment in the front sight I would like to have the POI be slightly higher than the POA. And to paulyski, the Krebs sights are AR sights, not AK sights.
