DogMan 2,343
Anything higher than a 28 foot ladder bothers me. Ironically I have no problem jumping out of a plane.
shades_of_grey 1,092
I don't have a problem with heights, but that job looks like a serious PITA regardless.. mostly because of the exposure to weather and rather "cramped" working conditions. Helluva view, though! I'd probably get fired for throwing shit off the top.
localone 0
i was getting dizzy with his damn head bobbing all over the place

gregomega 929
I had to quit my framing job cuz I got stessed out stapling off a 20ft RV guarge with a pitched roof on a windy ass day. I got it done but almost flew off during the process. That video didnt bother me until he left the confinds of the inner tower, once he got on the outside of that thing, I would have freaked.
shades_of_grey 1,092
"It's good to take a break and look around while you rest." FUCK THAT! I agree with the video. That view is spectacular! I'm sure it'd get "old" after awhile, but why not look around.. if for no other reason than to dodge possible incoming birds.

I love great views, and would love to see that, but not while I should be focusing on keeping myself from slipping off and taking a tumble into a grave I won't even have to bother digging cause I'll just crash into the ground. Raoul_Duke 113
Holy shit! Just watching that made my palms sweaty . . . There is no way anyone could get me to do that. I do want to sky dive, but I'll go with the resounding FUCK THAT on this one . . .

Yeah, see, I've got no problem with either of those things, or with jumping out of a plane or helo, but this kinda stuff where you've got no safety net just makes my stomach turn. Stansplace 414
Yea, I'll have to give this one a resounding fuck that as well!
Nailbomb 10,221
I've been out on structures and tanks that were measured in a hundred or more feet, But when you get into the thousends range, its not even close to the same ball game. I could do it, But wouldn't want to. Whatever pays the bills, you know? Its called work for a reason. I have marveled at the way iron workers will literaly run across beams. Shits crazy. Makes that slow climb to the top seem a cakewalk in comparison. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVOKf4pLpiA
chevyman097 2,579
That is some crazy shit. Just watching that makes me nervous. And up is the easy part. I cant imagine the trip down. How about this, not as scary when it comes to heights...but pretty interesting. Helicopter linemen. Dont get zapped!

How about this, not as scary when it comes to heights...but pretty interesting. Helicopter linemen. Dont get zapped! Yeah, the second you touch those lines you have all the hundreds of thousands of volts going through you as the line does!!! AND THEN the heights, and the crazy transfer!! yeesh... If i recall correctly a guy working for the power companies somewhere had to campaign the companies for YEARS to get them to start doing the above procedure. They thought the people would be zapped the second they touched the lines. He finally had to go out and voluntarily put himself in that situation to prove his point. chupa 34
I work at this plant all the time. Nothing a scary as what they did but, I have been in a double stack before like these, riding up inside a spyder (man basket)My link. They wear suits made of nomex and stainless steel. Essentially wearing a 'Faraday cage', allowing them to come to the same potential as the lines. The technique or work is called 'bare handing'. Pretty wicked stuff and they can only do it for a certain amount of time in their careers as it takes a toll physically, over time. Those tower climbers are a whole other breed! Good video. G O B 3,516
I painted Civil Defense towers one summer in High School, and have been an elevator mechanic for 41 years, but DAMN! Maybe 30 years ago - and IF the $$$$ were real good?
Koliadko 207
Um, screw that!!!! I like where they say there is no quick way down. Sure there is. I just doubt anyone would like the outcome! I just don't 'do' heights.
22_Shooter 1,560
I hate heights, but if I have to deal with them, then so be it. That being said, I would never apply for that job. Holy shit.
MT Predator 2,294
You know what that tower is doing in the wind right and what it feels like? Fuuuuck!
bob667 1
i would try it once just to say i did it
MT Predator 2,294
I'd try it for bragging rights and the rush. Jumping from planes and roping from helicopters didn't phase me. That free climb portion with no safety has got to pucker your ass up though.
