tonyhunt 15
Why hasn't a manufacturer made a single stack polymer mag with a metal front lug like the factory mags? It seems like something everyone would want, people pay out the ass for the Factory 8's. I would love to have a couple 10 rounders in this style, am I the only one? Paulyski 2,227
To embed steel into the mag during the injection molding process is very expensive. Not just the tooling, but the added production step. Mike-D did it, because there was no other way with a drum's weight. All other companies that have done it have vastly more financial resources than those who didn't.
tonyhunt 15
I know it's expensive, but I'm sure it can't be more than $140 per mag, drums are less than that and they have the insert + more moving parts Edited September 27, 2010 by KillDozer
The_Caged_Bird 474
I agree, besides, history has shown that what is expensive at first gets dirt cheap after everyone starts doing it. In the early nineties, you could get a decent laser pointer for about $25, now I can buy one at a freakin' 7-11 for $2.99...

Chowderhead72 13
A few months ago there was a forum member that had access to an Xray machine; maybe he could take a few views of the Izzy8 and we could modify AGP's with epoxy, fiberglass and steel. Just a thought.

Just a thought. Might be worth trying, but I would still love to be able to buy them vs making them. It can't be too expensive, the factory 5s are only $42.
zenman223 460
its not done because its more expensive BUT its not that its so expensive its cost prohibitive. Its NOT too expensive, its just that is would cut into companies profit margins somewhat and the only two or three companies that make saiga mags are fairly large GREEDY companies that would rather make a cheaper decent product that has a higher profit margin than to make a little more expensive top quality product with alittle lower profit margin. thats why we can only wait patiently on a smaller company who cares about making a top quality product to make them(MDarms,Chaos, whoever else, were waiting!) Agreed.. There is currently no motivation to spend the money to do this because the competition is not there. If pro-mag would do this it would solve the problems with their current mags and give them a shot at retaking a large market share. BTW AGP is a small company; look at their website; Saiga mags are their biggest business.

They probably would if they had to, but they don't. People are buying them without the metal lugs. Some people are breaking theirs and buying even more. Not much incentive there.
