jasperlivingston 0
I have someone who's interested in installing the furniture from my Saiga 236 (7.62, sporterized, 21" bbl) on their Norinco Hunter. Can this be done easily or not-so-easily? Advice anyone?
nalioth 405
No. The Hunter utilizes a milled receiver with a slanted back end. All Saigas are produced on stamped receivers. He'd need to get with a custom stock maker to achieve his goals.
jasperlivingston 0
My 236 has also has a slant receiver. Is it that the buttstock won't cross over from a stamped receiver to a milled receiver?
BattleRifleG3 16
Correct, at best it would require major carving, but it may not have all the material you need. My suggestion would be to do the trigger group conversion and then make a stock to match. The knob that goes into the hunter receiver is hard to mill and even harder to cut without machine tools, but if you didn't mind being slightly amateur you could just cut the stock to match the receiver profile and then make a separate knob to go into the receiver recess. Do NOT try to put a thumbhole on a hunter without the FCG conversion - the trigger is very long and is pulled up as much as back. It needs a classic curved grip stock to be the slightest bit ergonomic.

evlblkwpnz 3,418
There is no top tang on the Hunter and the Saiga stock will look like poo on there. He will also have to relieve the stock for the miniature bottom tang on the Hunter.
