modrisco 16
Doing some research on SGL21's, so for you guys who own one, what about the default trigger? I believe Arsenal builds the SGL21 rifle with their own double stage US trigger. It seems a number of people have swapped the default Arsenal trigger with a Tapco G2. Why? Besides the take up and break differences between a double and single stage trigger, what advantages does the Tapco G2 have over the Arsenal? I'm trying to consider why Arsenal would build the SGL21 with quality parts only to include a double stage trigger that people are replacing. Is the trigger issue simply one of personal preference? echoside190 127
I think it's just a matter of personal preference. Some people like the double stage triggers and some like the G2 because its got a smoother trigger pull with a crisp brake on a single stage. I have the Arsenal trigger still in my SGL21 and I have a G2 in my converted saiga and I like them both equally in different ways.

Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
Thoughts from the other side: I had G2s in my rifles and replaced them with Arsenal triggers. I really like their two stage pull, it's very firm with a clean break at the end, very stiff. I personally found it to be an improvment over the G2, as it will not bump fire during slow pulls and because of the very stiff pull, I find myself not jerking the trigger anymore and shooting a lot more accurately.
into_the_knight 22
I wonder if the Arsenal triggers are more reliable when you have dirt and sand in your receiver than the G-2's are. I have two reasons for thinking this. 1) azoutdoorsman posted a video under the name scotsdalerick showing how he got a bulgy 74 to fail. He stated that the G-2 was supposedly a good trigger and that it was the trigger which failed first. 2) gunplumber Mark Graham of ARS posted an article a while ago on his website about studying the dimensions of Romanian triggers and that he had come to believe each one may have been mated to its rifle and that he had discerned the tolerances acceptable for the trigger group. Knowing that many aspects of the AK aren't by chance but rather by design, it leaves me to wonder if the G-2's shape was considered by the Russians and rejected in favor of a more reliable geometry that is less pleasant to shoot.
bwade 38
There are things I like about both triggers. The G2 is definitely shorter and smoother(until the arsenal breaks in) The Arsenal trigger on the SGL is a little gritty especially new but they smooth out with usage. I seem to shoot a little more accurate farther out with the Arsenal as well...ymmv.
modrisco 16
Looks like some folks like the G2 FCG, and others like Arsenal's two stage FCG. The double stage FCG surprised me since the SGL21 is based on the AK103 pattern. Doesn't the AK103 have a single stage trigger? I associate a double stage trigger with bolt action rifles, not a battle rifle like the AK series. Gritty triggers don't bother me too much since they can usually be smoothed out with a little TLC. TwentyNizzo 66
The first time I shot a SGL-21 I was horrified with the trigger. It was absolutely horrible. If I had an arsenal I'd swap it out for a G2.
modrisco 16
Went out to the range today with my new SGL21, a Saiga I converted with the Tapco G2, and a Vector Arms AKM (not sure about the FCG, but it is single stage). It took a while to get used to the Arsenal FCG. The first stage take up is gritty, but the second stage break is crisp. Once I go the hang of it, I got the best result from all three rifles. My eyes are terrible, so I was surprised at how accurate the SGL21 can be. I'm glad I got the SGL21 and think I'll keep the Arsenal FCG... just my 0.02 cents. YMMV.
