It faces convex to the rear sight block. Other suggestion is lightly striking the top of the gas tube with something soft and non marring (clean soft block of 2x4). Just be very careful because they can dent. No you don't NEED the spring, its not used on all military AKs anyway. Just hang on to it, because the tubes get loose after a few hundred rounds, the spring keeps it from rattling. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Try with out the spring 1st.... then like css said check the spring.. maybe it fits only 1 way.. worst case leave off and save.. Al Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Yes, I did try the spring both ways, convex to the rear sight post, and it didn't seem to make any difference. Much appreciate your confirming it's OK to fire without spring, at least for awhile.
