Polyblock style trunnion

Recommended Posts

Ok here's the project. I want to build an underfolder stock for my RA M-96. I need some dimensions to start with and thought if I had a polyblock trunnion that it might be just the ticket as a starting point. Well both places that I found ads for them via google http://www.floridagunworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FG&Product_Code=UAKBLK&Category_Code=AKA+AK+STOCKS and http://www.gungarage.com/ak_accessories.htm. kicked back my orders due to item being unavailable. Over on the XCR forum there was a guy who posted a pic of one he built but he ended up being a single poster and I tried to PM him to get some measurements to no avail. My next step is doing it the hard way but I was wondering if anyone else here might know of another source for a polyblock rear trunnion before I proceed .

Did you get the dim's you needed? I bought my "poly block" off of Gunbrokeya, but I seen the same on evilbay!

Anyway, it is some kind of rock-hard poly resin with some holes machined out for the stock itself. External dims are a "universal fit" in the sense that you will possibly have to do some sanding/grinding to get it to fit inside the recvr.

I snagged one for my WASR-22 as I figured the zero recoil would make it usable. However - once I assembled the spare Yugo U/F stock I have, I can see that it will not clear the side-mounted "scope rails" that WASRs have to make them gheyly sporting for importation. I'm looking at grinding on the mount or grinding on the stock rail so as to get it to swing past the rail.

Let me know if you need the external dims..

I bought a poly block, still have it, as I took one look and said "what a piece of shit". Did 2 builds with Yugo UFs used factory steel rear trunnions, both rock solid and tight! Interestingly enough, one UF came relieved for the sight mount and one did not. Remove metal carefuly, there is room to grind clearance for the sight mount but JUST! Some minor bending may be needed. Note that Yugo's have a different hole pattern than other UF's.
