Smiley_Guy 2
Has anybody ever had their reciever cover fly off on it's own while firing?
LeadMonkey 0
sounds like the spring wasn't seated into place. What kind of ammo were you using?
Smiley_Guy 2
The problem is it's with my saiga 308 shooting Remington core-lokt 150g. My 7.62X39 works flawlessly. I just got a "new" 308, fun to shoot until like the sixth round blew the cover off. I took it apart and made sure it was put back together right. Next shot blew the cover off again. The scope mount kept it from being Too exciting but that was enough to call it a day. I posted on the 308 list but got nothing so far... Anybody see anything like this? (BTW great avatar Lead.. I've been away for a while)
jon elia 0
the 308 has problems like that i've heard what some peopkle have done to fix it is by putting a screw into the part that sticks out of the back of the cover so it cant just fly off.....you can find info on it if you browse thru the 308 forum
sigmoidfletcher 0
Recoil spring assembly on my 410 has a spring loaded button at the top of that if you can find one. Not sure if they are the same length as the 308 though.
platekiller 0
my 308 did the same thing mainly on the last round in a mag. it was with wolf ammo but i found a quick fix i switched reciever covers with my romak 991 and hasn't happend since. i think that the problem is that the reciever cover doesn't fit as tight as it should or isnt long enough. so if you order a new rociever cover or switch with another ak you should be fine. (p.s. it was funny because it kept hitting my dad in the nose when he shot it). keith
IndyArms 10,186
Drill and tap the top rear of the recoil spring part that sticks out the back of the receiver cover. Insert a set screw into that so that the plunger cant move inside the receiver while firing... will hook ya right up... easy fix!
Smiley_Guy 2
Thanks to all. I'll try it this weekend.
