Russian Minister apparently gone insane

Recommended Posts

Google article from New York Times (Piece o crap rag, I know!) on Sept. 14 2010 concerning meeting between Secretary Gates and this jackass Anatoly Serdyukov. Apparently he was bean counter for a furniture factory in a prior life with no military experience. Married to daughter of one of Putin's cronies. Sounds like he's just yanking the Army's chain. My link

It would appear that the infection of politicians and bureaucrats who steer and formulate policy, and who know next to nothing about military hardware, particularly rifles, has finally reached even Russia at high levels. It has long been a festering sore among our own politicians and bureaucrats, for many decades. Simply incredible. The Russians have a long history of innovation in the firearms field. History has not ended. The Russians have the engineering experience and tooling to design what new models of firearms that they might need. The Russians should not rely upon the West for any thing. China, has certainly gone its own way in this regard, with its fairly new infantry rifle series and new ammunition caliber. One would hope that the various lines of AK rifles continue to be manufactured, as they are proven robust designs.

The Antov AN94 is one complicated piece of kit! It has to be prohibitively expensive to produce.

What is "Antov"? Did you mistake Antonov/Antov airplane for Abakan rifle? AN94 stands for Avtomat Nokonov Model 1994.

The AN94 is expensive and high maintenance, but its not prohibitively expensive. It was issued in several army units but was never wide spread. The only benefit it gives is 2 round burst which cant justify it

Your are right. That's what happens when you engage the keyboard with a splitting headache and too little sleep!
