niksdad2 0
Fresh resto on x39 i will post pics soon, i like the AR style flash hiders but need more input. Thanks
chevyman097 2,579
Did you replace the FSB or is it original? If its factory, the DPH flash suppressor is the best way to go. imo....works nicely and a snap to install.
niksdad2 0
Thanks for the help and yes its an original FSB but if replacing it isnt to hard than thats an option. Any pics of the DPH ?

chevyman097 2,579
Out of stock but here it is. http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-164/SAIGA-223-7.62X39-MUZZLE/Detail If you dont cut and thread your fsb the only other option really is replacing it. Lots of info here on how to do so. GL
Tarheel72 16
I don't think you can get the DPH anymore. He is supposed to be making a new model but that was months ago. Check his thread in the vendor section for updates. I got mine from a forum member who did not use it, he cut and threaded his AK instead. Here is what mine looks like and it does indeed perform well and was a snap to install. I do not want to go to the trouble of cutting on my AK, even if it is threaded. niksdad2 0
looks like a great fit n finish, im going to try hunt one down.
mk4dubbin 0
If it was strictly flash suppression i was going after, i would get a smith vortex. If i didnt want to spend that much i would get a YHM phantom.
ChileRelleno 7,071
First thing is to make the decision, do you want to replace the FSB or check for factory threads/thread on your barrel? The least expense and work is, IMHO, chopping the sleeve of the original FSB to check for threads, if threaded, you're golden. Some decent choices in flash suppression/brakes to be had. I have factory threads and didn't want to screw with replacing the FSB. I went with the Phantom, http://store.carolin...-PHANTOM/Detail Edited February 18, 2011 by ChileRelleno
niksdad2 0
Thanks this helps out a lot, I will see if its threaded, I would prefer threaded. would it be worth the effort to swap out the FSB?
stnls1911 55
would it be worth the effort to swap out the FSB? I have a canted FSB, so I will be swapping mine out for a threaded one. It will be worth the effort if your FSB is canted and if you ever adjust for windage.

If you have the means to do it, Yes. It will be much beffer for muzzle attachment options. But it is a little easier to cut the existing one and see if you have threads, if not you can thread it. Many folks go that route. Its close to the same end result.
niksdad2 0
Ok I cut the sleeve off and no threads. What thread options if any besides the standard AK47 and or should i replace the FSB at this point?
stnls1911 55
If your FSB is canted, replace it. If the FSB is straight, thread the barrel for 14x1 LH.
baraban7.62 20
you have two options (in my opinion, since its an AK) slant break, or 74 style break
jamesavery22 54
If it were me, and the FSB was canted, I'd still use the stock FSB. It's work but hey it's a free FSB Not to mention if it's canted you have the same amount of work to do either way... I prefer M14x1 threads to the 24mm. If you already have decided on a 24mm device then go for it. Else there are a lot more options in M14x1. ak47heaven, once you have M14 threads there are a plethora of flash hiders you can choose from. imarangemaster 315
My Saiga was threaded, so I cut it back and used the cheap Tapco M16A1 style birdcage. It totally eliminated flash in low light conditions. Then I switched to 24mm FSB and AK103 brake.
