samcfloyd 0
The first 10 rounds in my md 20 round drum don't want to fire without an fte or stovepipe, the last ten cycle fine. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thanks for the help.
Paulyski 2,227
The drum's spring tension is set for high brass out of the box. Drum's have much more spring force pressing the shells against the bottom of the bolt when fully loaded than the sticks. To overcome this, mike recommends correctly polishing & profiling the bolt to reduce friction. Of course if your gun's borderline undergassed that could contribute to the issue. With my service, I include free pin gauges so you know where you stand port-wise. I can nearly guarantee yours is a gun issue not a drum issue. The MD-20 is the most reliable mag out of the box next to the Russian 5s & 8s from my experience.
BoKnows 12
I had the same issue this weekend with Remington Sport Load Bulk Packs from Wally World. I read the instructions that come with the drum and it says to unwind the drum one full turn. I did that and now my S12 cycles fine.
