Mike1234567 26
Sobering and depressing when you consider how our citizens would react... isn't it?
SOPMOD 254
Their standard of living is 4x ours. Their level of education is too. Go to a neighborhood where the people are educated and affluent in the USA and you would see the same kind of behavior. People who are screwed can't wait to do some screwing

DrThunder88 912
From our point of view, the buildings fell up! My heart goes out to the families and friends of those who've lost their lives as well as those who've lost their homes and other belongings.
ctd 20
As a Christchurch born and raised boy this has been a real shake up for me, seeing your home town destroyed is horrible building that you know well flat on tv/net news. I even got a txt message from a friend who was stuck when he sent the txt. The house I was raised in will have to be pulled down. For many this will be a lesson to keep supply's in several places around your house as family found theirs was no use to them under a collapsed house.
ctd 20
Their standard of living is 4x ours. Not sure were you get this idea To compare- http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=New+Zealand&country2=United+States When this- http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/35852.htm shows this- NZ Per capita income (December 2010): U.S. $27,500. and http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html shows this USA Per capita income (1999) $21,587 To me that looks about on par Christchurch is a long way from being a wealthy city by New Zealand Standards, not sure what US city to best compare it to
