Loyal Dog Risks His Life For A Friend

Recommended Posts

A few years ago, on my RR route, there was a duck that was hit and killed by a train. It laid dead in the middle of two tracks. It's mate stayed with the dead duck for about a month. It was always sad coming up to the spot. Seeing the mate standing or sitting next to the dead body.

Had two pet Tula geese we raised up from chicks that happened to. One flew into some power lines and the other just stayed by the dead one. Even after we got rid of the dead one the other wounded around for the better part of a month looking for its buddy.

I'm honestly surprised the first dog even got buried in China.

too old/dacayed to eat I guess.

Anyway, there was a lab nearby that was abandond by the side of a highway and sat waiting for its owner for a month before people figured out what had happened. Was given a new family eventually.

My buddy guards my bedroom door when I leave home. If people house sit on an extended vacation and I close my door he lays against it every chance he gets till I'm home. So full of love. Rescued him from a shelter (at an older age, he was not likely to get adopted) and he's so greatful.

"This soldier, I realized, must have had friends at home and in his regiment: yet he lay there deserted by all except his dog. I looked on, unmoved, at battles which decided the future of nations. Tearless, I had given orders which brought death to thousands. Yet here I was stirred, profoundly stirred, stirred to tears. And by what? By the grief of one dog."

Napoleon Bonaparte, on finding a dog beside the body of his dead master, licking his face and howling, on a moonlit field after a battle. Napoleon was reportedly haunted by this scene until his own death.

Excerpts from a Cat 'S Daily Diary

Day 983 of my captivity...

My captors continue to taunt me with biz arre little dan gling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage..

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

Thought the thread could use a little lift

I was watching some documentary about the origins of dogs and their descent from wolves. It was quite interesting how in tune our species are to one another. It brought up some cool research into things like humans' ability to discern between a dog barking alarm or in play and how dogs innately respond to human hand gestures and eye movements, which even chimpanzees can't pick up on.

Perhaps more important than the fascinating history and biology of dogs, they're among the best kind of companions in the world. Dogs are my kind of people.

I find it difficult to contemplate risking my life for any human being other than my wife or daughter, but I don't believe I would hesitate to destroy a city block to save the life of my four-legged life-friend.

A dog would die for you, without a single pang of regret or a second-thought. A human would more than likely try to hide behind you and take your wallet after you were incapacitated.

This is why I have the utmost faith in our canine friends.

The link I saw said the original dog hit died from it's injuries, eventually and that the good samaritan dog escaped into the wilds. I hit a pit bull type of dog on my way home one day (there were 2 of them) and he spun around on his back and limped across the hiway. I followed him to the trailer house he went to and pounded on the door and blasted the fucking owner for not giving a shit about their animals. It really upset me. The owner not so much. Some people shouldn't have kids, and some shouldn't have animals. Some, both. (most shouldn't have either in the people I've seen).
