I have a Saiga 308. After spending a lot of time with it lately making tooling of all types to do some mods on it I noticed that the receive on this weapon is interesting. The left side of the receiver is flat very typical of a standard AK as I know them but the Right side (Bolt side)has the RPK type hump near the front trunnion block. The question I have is this something that only the Saiga's have? Also does any one know if the hump is in fact shaped the same as the RPK's or is it slightly different. Any information on this would sure be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

The Saiga 308 has the hump on one side. The other calibers don't have it. The Vepr has it on both sides, in all calibers.
