Muzzle break or Polychoke?

Recommended Posts

What you’re dealing with in these terms applies to birdshot as the projectile/s and largely to hunting / breaking clays.

How far you can reliably drop a bird or bust a clay is the effective range of that choke’s constriction (varies by choke with the tightening the shot pattern),

roughly how far the shot will fly in total is the terminal range (more or less is a constant depending on shot size / weight and velocity).

IMO while brakes may look cool, chokes do the needed job.

A belated thanks for clearing that up! Does anyone have a nifty graphic for buckshot by any chance?

A choke is on my Christmas list since I'd like to blast some geese. I don't think that brakes do that much for a shotgun performance wise, although they may look cool if that is important to you. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
