westonsecurity 6
I'm considering installing a new barrel on a Saiga 308. Can it be done, or is it a bad idea? If it can be done, I would like to install a larger contour dia. possibly .650 or a little bigger .750. What are your ideas? Thx..
schultze13 354
I have seen one saiga 308 with a new barrel the guy installed a browning 1919 MG barrel in to a S-308 receiver. Just a thought if your doing if for something to do and you already have a S-308 good luck. If you still have to buy the gun they just started importing vepr-308's again around $900 and it already has a heavier trunion and barrel and it already converted with a nice wood thumbhole stock about the same money you would have in converting a S-308. Arik 565
The 1919 was done by Turbo at akforum. Anything can be done just a matter of $$$$

Marc 147
someone on here (or elsewhere...don't remember) installed a .243 barrel on his S308. You'll have to search for it.

It can be done but you will have to make a gas block
westonsecurity 6
Found that Alantic Firearms is selling them. I'm not sure about the dia.
TonyRumore 1,332
You could use an RPK gas block which would run about a .810" barrel, or an S-12 gas block that would use a .905" barrel. And yes, an AK will run off an S-12 puck style gas system. I have one. Tony

westonsecurity 6
Tony, Would this change in barrels increase accuracy enough to warrant the expense, or would you be making an approx. 2 to 3 moa gun?
