Never heard of it! Welcome!

Got stuck behind one once. Wasn't sure if I could go around him or not and we were going up hill. It was the longest 1/4 mile of my life

Pennsyltucky here, so I'm assuming I'm still Northeast but I'm allowed to own all the cool stuff

Welcome to Alabama       But where can you shoot you're cool stuff? I can kick open the back door and let a couple rounds off...theoretically

The sad thing is, she's dead now.   I can conceal carry my PPS-43 under Pa law!

I've driven to some weird ass places in PA just to buy a rifle ftf. Places I've never heard off. Last year bought an SBR from a Russian guy who lives in a one horse town bordering Brinhampton NY, or something like that. It was actually faster to go into NY and then back to Pa then it was to drive through Pa. On the way back I had to stick to Pa only since I was transporting an SBR. Drove through about a dozen towns no bigger then my development.

Hey guys decided to join this forum since I picked up two Saiga firearms this month. Unfortunately I live in the wonderful state of Mass where we have some of the most fantastic gun laws in the nation!!!! Anyways i'm kind of a newb when it comes to Russian firearms which is the main reason why I'm here to learn more. Ok enough talk, time for gun porn!

This is correct Arik. Shotguns have completely seperate laws from "rifles" in MA. The way I understand it is you can only have two evil features on a shotgun at any given time. Since the S12 already comes with a detachable magazine and is semi auto im already at the evil feature limit. However a Rem 870 Pump I can have a pistol grip on it with an adjustable stock because the shotgun comes with zero evil features stock.

I have a friend in Boston who applied for a CCW permit and was granted one, yet doesn't own a single handgun. Down in MD we are a little more free with firearms but CCW? Fuggedaboudit.

Aside from CA and IL we north-easterns are a little more restricted than most of the Union. Welcome to the resistance! And nice furniture on the SGL, you need some original Russian plums to go with it.

CC in MA is a little F'd up as well. MA residents get an LTC Class A or B. Class A allows you to own high capacity weapons where as Class B is 10 rnds or less. But to truly CC, there's a section on your LTC that is called restrictions. If it says Restrictions: None you are good to go for CC. If the restrictions section says anything other than none, you're F'd. I have an LTC Class A with no restrictions but my colleague has a Class A with a restriction of sporting/hunting. He can't CC, can only use his firearms for hunting or at a gun club.

Pa is a shall isue state. $49 and a background check get you a permit. Carry 1 round or 1000 if you like so long as its registered as a pistol, Dracos, PTR308 and PPS43 included. Now if you happen to use a 308 pistol as defense and hit someone besides the perp....well your ass is pretty much done. If you have a permit concealed is a must. If not open carry is fine but some cities frown on that. Overall we can have anything in any caliber as long as it doesn't go BOOM!

If you have a permit concealed is a must.

Negative on that one, a LTCF gives you the right to carry concealed or to carry a loaded pistol in a car. It does not require you to conceal carry. Your sheriff may tell you otherwise. A few years back a woman in Lebanon Co had her permit revoked due to her open carrying, the sheriff took her to court and lost.

If not open carry is fine but some cities frown on that.

Open carry is only an issue in cities of the "first class". The only one in the state is Philly. Cities do not have the governing ability to supersede the state law. Therefore local ordinances are null and void. Philly tried to push one through a couple years ago till someone finally got it through to Nutter that he isn't above state law.

Open carry will get you harassment no doubt, but it not illegal unless you are on private property and the property owner asks you to cover and or leave.

Just a minor difference between Philly and the rest of the state ;)

You're right. I was just being general. And I do live NEAR (15 miles) from Philly.

I've been told it both ways about the permit and concealment. I conceal to be on the safer side and so I don't get harassed.

  • 2 months later...

New guy here from central PA. Near Philipsburg.

Holy carp you're almost local, used to shoot in the strippings up that way outside town. Well until the land got all bought up.

Actually right around Philipsburg PA here as well, West Decatur to be more specific.

Stationed in Maryland currently, so 3 hour drive and the saiga 12 gets lots of play on the weekends.
