Razr 23
Just finished the first round of conversion. Here is a report, challenges and findings. 1. Parts used Tromix FCG BOLT HOLD OPEN LEVER KIT AXIS PIN RETAINING PLATE Low brass reliability kit ( ETac gas puck, Gunfixers gas knob, low recoil spring) M4 STYLE COLLAPSIBLE STOCK ADAPTER "COMMERCIAL SIZE" WITH ALUMINUM TUBE CAA. M4 STYLE STOCK MAGPUL CTR "Commercial Size" RECOIL PAD ENHANCED FOR MAGPUL MOE AND CTR STOCKS TRIGGER GUARD - CAROLINA SS TRIGGER GROUP HOLE PLUGS GRIP AK/SAIGA SAW STYLE PISTOL SGM Tactical 10rd Magazine SGM Saiga 12 "The Gunner" muzzle brake SAIGA 12 BARREL NUT Did not polish any parts, except a bit of hammer surface. 2. Challenges. Now I figured why CSS sells cobalt drills. My Black&Decker drill set is useless. 3/16 does not even bite the riverts metal. Had to run to the Lowes to buy a good drill. The screws for trigger guard are bigger diameter than holes from riverts. CAA tube adapter does not fit 100%. Had to file apdapter surface where it conacts with the reciever. Plus CAA tube has sling holder ring on each side close to receiver. It prevents using side mount for optic. 3. Range report I know my Saiga shot Federal bulk pack without a problem before conversion, so I used it to begin with. Heat 1 - Federal ammo - Gunfixer Gas setting #2 Factory 5 round mag - Ok Keepshooting 5 round mag - Last round FTE Surefire 10 round mag - 9th round FTE Gunfixer Gas setting #3 Surefire 10 round mag - No issues Heat 2 - Winchester Universal ammo - Gunfixer Gas setting #2 Factory 5 round mag - OK Keepshooting 5 round mag - 1 FTE Surefire 10 round mag - Multiple FTE Gunfixer Gas setting #3 Surefire 10 round mag x 3 - No issues Heat 4 - Estate 7.5 1235 FPS - Gunfixer Gas setting #2 Factory 5 round mag - OK Keepshooting 5 round mag - Multiple FTEs Surefire 10 round mag - Multiple FTEs Gunfixer Gas setting #3 Keepshooting 5 round mag - OK Surefire 10 round mag x 2 - OK Heat 5 - Remington BuckShot 00 ammo - Gunfixer Gas setting #+1 Factory 5 round mag - OK Surefire 10 round mag - OK Heat 6 - Remington Slugger slugs - Gunfixer Gas setting #-1 Factory 5 round mag - OK Keepshooting 5 round mag - OK Surefire 10 round mag - OK Heat 7 - Rio slugs - Gunfixer Gas setting #2 Factory 5 round mag - OK Keepshooting 5 round mag - OK Surefire 10 round mag - OK Heat 8 - Winchester Supreme 00 1450 FPS - Gunfixer Gas setting #-1 Factory 5 round mag - OK Surefire 10 round mag (5 rounds loaded)- OK Heat 9 - Winchester Supreme Elite PDX1 Slug + 3 pellets - Gunfixer Gas setting #-1 Factory 5 round mag - OK Surefire 10 round mag (5 rounds loaded)- FTEs, switched to #+1 ok. Overall I am very satisfied. Recoil now a bit lighter. Looks like Surefire mag requires increased gas settings for certain loads. it's a brand new though. Has anyone experienced this as well? Guns Are Great 140
Nice! Those CTR stocks are really starting to grow on me (like the aluminum tube choice also)! I wonder how hard it would be to fit a limbsaver pad (grind to fit) to it? Just finished the first round of conversion. Here is a report, challenges and findings. 1. schultze13 354
No need to put a limbsaver on the CTR they make a nice recoil pad that fits that stock also Larue makes a really nice metal cheek riser if you got HK style sights on it.Some other people make a plastic risers but they are not as nice IMO.
