scavenger 0
I'm looking to change my stock and my gas tube/hand guard on my SGL-21 from the plastic bits to some actual wood when the time comes. I've seen some really beautiful wood on some really nice AK-47s in the past and am wondering if anyone has any tips or products they can direct me to for some top-of-the-line goodness in the wood department (or at least what you feel on the matter). I'd greatly appreciate any and all help, thanks! Edited April 4, 2011 by Scavenger
David Mark 2,453
http://www.dinzagarms.com/furniture/furniture.html My particular recommendation would be Ironwood.
n102788 6
I got a romanain wood set up now. I know that this wood would be considered far from top of the line but with a nice refinish it looks pretty good. The reason why I went the route I did is because I didnt want to worry about dings and scratches on my $100 + wood set. My Siaga with the romanain wood furniture is presentable, cheap, and who gives a shit if you fuck up a romanain wood set. Just my thought.
KC913 324
You can find full sets of original unissued Russian laminate furniture on eBay and other places. If it were me, I would go that route before buying US made or refinished for the same price. Here are the Russian red laminate handguards I picked up on eBay for around $55.00 shipped. Triangle folding stock and surplus lower retainer will be coming soon.
