GodfatherJ 7
http://leapers.com/prod_detail.php?mitem=Mounting%20Systems&itemno=MNT-T470 I don't want a rail that covers the entire gas block like the other model that utg makes. This one is actually perfect. Does anyone know if it will fit? Edited April 5, 2011 by GodfatherJ

GodfatherJ 7
I just called and they said under no circumstance will it fit on a Saiga 7.62.
Gunfanatic 221
You can use it. You just need a bolt on hand guard retainer and you may have to modify your gas tube. http://www.dinzagarms.com/saiga_762x39/akbor1.html

Everything aside thanks for lookin out!
jamesavery22 54
I see 1 pro and 2 big cons with the UTG/Leapers Pro: its cheap... Con: Not optic worthy and unproven. MI/Palm rail has many pro's and no cons that I know of Works with a stock Saiga, has specific versions for Trijicon RMR's + Aimpoint Micros, price on-par with Ultimak + lower HG, Arsenal has been putting them on their rifles for a while now and has anyone heard of any complaints? Oh and co-witness But hey it's your moolah.

Oh and co-witness But hey it's your moolah. You have a link? I'm still up in the air on optics but I am considering a side rail mount for optics. I'm just looking for something better than what came on it but is not as heavy as the other quad rails. Also with it being shorter it keeps with the look of an AK with wood just a tactical version. The only thing I would mount to it would be maybe a light or an angled fore grip if it would fit. Thanks for the opinions/options.
jadam13 0
I just called and they said under no circumstance will it fit on a Saiga 7.62. Yeah I got an email saying the same thing they did however forward me a link for the correct one. Here is their reply To answer your question, this mount can’t fit Saiga 7.62X39 due to some dimensional differences on handguard section. However, we do offer a very well made quad-rail system for Saiga 7.62x39-(MNT-HGSG39), you’re welcome to browse the link below for more detailed information- http://www.leapers.com/prod_detail.php?mitem=mount&itemno=MNT-HGSG39 Edited April 7, 2011 by jadam13

n102788 6
I had a regular ak non saiga specific rail on my saiga before I put wood on it. You can see this rail on my avatar. It will fit a saiga with just an akm gas tube with no need for a LHG retainer. The rail system works with a clamp system. The top rail screws on the lower rail and tightens until secure on the rifle. If I remember correctly the Yugoslav one will be a little bigger in barrel diameter you should go with one that works on regular akm's.

jamesavery22 54
... You have a link? ... Here you go: http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=391 IMHO these are the best deal for Saiga's. It does not need a lower hand guard retainer of any kind and it works with the stock Saiga gas tube. You get a mount for an optic you can cowitness through and you can mount a light. Of course you get some trade-off's. No QD ability with the optic and the light mount isn't ideal(not as far forward on the rifle as most like) but they both still work. $125 for all that in one package is a steal. While I prefer the Ultimak setup it's much more costly. $90 for the Ultimak, $30 for a cheapish lower HG retainer, $40 for a lower HG, and you're already over the price of the MI/Palm rail. That's low-balling those three prices too.
