SaigaShooter 0
So i got my handguard today, it's pretty nice but i have some complaints. it dosen't fit snug to the sides of the rear sight block, the notch for the gas tube release lever should be bigger, and mimicked on the other side of the handguard, it would be more comfortable if the lumps at the back of the handguard were rounded over. On the positive side, it feels good and sturdy, and gives the rifle a nice look, be it a bit bulky if you have a midget stock like mine. If you havelong fingers , this is the handguard for you, really freakin wide. enough yapping, I gots pics fer ya's
vjor 2
I will say, it looks pretty cool by the way nice back yard too.
cvasqu03 21
How easy (or hard) is it to remove the top? I can't imagine keeping it on if it will keep you from easily removing the gas tube for cleaning.
Wolverine 10,360
SaigaShooter, Thanks for your review and pictures. Your assessment of the Galil was similar to mine. The Galil is wide and the hump on the bottom rear is annoying. Maybe I'll get used to it. On the otherhand I have already mounted one of the retainers on a TDI grip like the one below for future installation on yet another conversion.........probably a 7.62. PS........I trust your rifle was empty and the safety engaged when you were holding it barrel first to give us the front end view of the Galil and retainer. Thanks again. BattleRifleG3 16
This mean you guys still want no-gunsmithing handguards and retainers for Standard Saiga as well as S-308? I have a retainer for standard handguard designed, but it would take a lot of work to manufacture. Alternately, I have a forend with integrated retainer developed that I'd probably ask as much for if using the cheapest wood and style.
midwestarmory.com 0
Hey just to let you guys know Im having a sale on these but please read all. http://st34.startlogic.com:8080/builderapp...sta/page11.html I have one of the galil handguards on a pistol which I cut in half and then added a shortened Ultimak gas tube. SaigaShooter 0
Hey midwest, when you made our special page, it showed up at the bottom of the category list as "new page", meaning anyone can get to it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok, I picked up a new K-Var stock from rick-16 (whos a great guy btw) and It's awesome. It really helps balance out the rifle. That damn east German stock just made it look too unbalanced. I also got a Bushnell red dot on top. Pretty leased with the way the whole package looks. h8mtv 0
That looks great. I have been looking to upgrade my forend. This may be the ticket. I think this forend would look great with a Ace folder for the full Galil look. Does anyone make a US made Galil style grip?

Falcon73 0
Thanks for taking the detailed pics of that handguard. I was considering that handguard for one of my Saigas but I am not pleased at all with that fit. Those gaps look as silly as the cheesy door on the bottom of my SAW grip. Based on your post and others it sounds like the feel is as bad as the fit. My hat is off to the Tapco guys for responding to the Saiga market but I wish they would refine the products a bit.
