MKA-1919 Foreign Parts Count 13-15

Recommended Posts

Here is what we have as far as foreign parts on the ATF's top 20 list.

Receiver - Yes

Barrel - Yes

Barrel Extension - Yes

Mounting Blocks/Trunions - No

Muzzle Attachements - No

Bolt - Yes

Bolt Carrier - No

Operating Rod - Yes

Gas Piston - Yes

Trigger Housing - No

Trigger - Yes

Hammer - Yes

Sear - No

Disconector - Yes

Handguard - Yes

Mag body - Yes

Floorplate - Yes

Follower - Yes

That puts the count at 13.

Then we have the buttstock and pistol grip to argue over. In the past, a single piece/part that serves more than one function, has only been counted as a single part. In this case the receiver, buttstock, and pistol grip are all one piece. I have counted the receiver in the 13 above, but if the pistol grip and buttstock were counted as seperate parts, then the count would be at 15. Break out the popcorn...........here we go.

Well, barring a real ATF letter, personally I'd just assume 15 parts.

CNC a hammer, trigger, and disconnect, add a US made hicap mag, and you'd be 1 part to the good.

If you put the factory mag in you're 2 parts short, but not hicap, so it doesn't matter.

Seems easiest to me.

Thumbhole stocks count as 2 parts for 922r. A buttstock and Pistol grip. I hope your right, but I wouldn't count on that without more solid verification.

Really though the first thing its going to need is adapters for US buttstocks and pistol grips anyway. Look at the market for customizing ARs, anything that allows you to open this gun up to those already existing parts will be gold.

It would seem wildly unusual to count a single physical part as two 922r parts. I'd go with 13, personally.

This is a government agency doing the counting we are talking about here
