Looks like you might want to run a 'cleaner' tap thru your gas plug threads, your welding may have messed them up slightly.

yes it was not too bad from the weld and came clean with a wire brush. the worst part about the threads was from the previous owner, the knob was frozen to the point of frustration. it took a 3 foot breaker bar and some heat to get the gas knob out. i cannot figure out what he did other than never cleaning. all 3 ports were gummed closed and there were chunks of lead in the gas tube. i did tweak the threads removing the gas knob. what are the thread specs. i could use some info on a tap.

funny thing tho, this shit isnt to hard to do. i am nowhere near skilled as most of the guys here. the biggest issue is just grabbing it by the balls and doing it. the worse that can happen is f'ing up a perfectly good gun.

  • 1 year later...

I plan to do a 5.45 underfolder, what type of stock/trunnion do you need (and where did you get them), thanks

on the 20 i used a romy folder. you can go with any type actually. polish will work. either way you go it will require some cut and drill. try apex for the parts.
