sulphur 7
So why is it hard to find a 20" barreled Saiga now a days?
shades_of_grey 1,092
Probably because the overall supply of new Saigas of all calibers in the US seems to be relatively low atm.. and the 20" barrelled x39 is less common than the 16" to begin with.
psl sniper 963
yeah and then when somone does come across a nice long barreled saiga, (say in 308) they want to chop them down!....wink wink nudge nudge.
shades_of_grey 1,092
yeah and then when somone does come across a nice long barreled saiga, (say in 308) they want to chop them down!....wink wink nudge nudge. If it were a x39 I'd be cutting the barrel a few inches shorter yet. Since it's chambered in .308, it can benefit from a little more barrel. Of course, I'm not planning to enter any benched marksmanship competitions with this, imo it's meant to be a battle rifle; so going from ~22" to ~19" won't hurt much, and will make it lighter and easier to handle. Or, maybe I'll just move the FSB back and recrown/thread at factory length. I haven't cut anything yet, (no rush). Edited June 20, 2011 by post-apocalyptic

Keep lookin, they're out there. The guy I got my .308 from contacted me after seeing how I narrowly missed out on the one YWHIC sold. TBH, I'm glad I got the one I did. It has a lower round count and a rivetted AK trigger guard.
