Stronger recoil spring = reduced stress?

Recommended Posts

I have a Tromix conversion that I bought in 2008 that cycles perfectly with low priced skeet rounds, at least for the past >7500 rounds. I can even shoot the win-light low recoil rounds on setting "2"

Having recently replaced a broken piston rod it is occurring to me to increase the strength of the recoil springs a bit and see if this might reduce the wear and tear effects of my generously gassed system .

At least one aftermarket gas regulator plug did not provide any benefit for an overgassed state, so I have decided to stay with the original equipment plug.

Does anyone know how many pounds the stock springs are, and has anyone had any experience with stronger springs? Would higher rated 1911 recoil springs be an option?
