why are some ak's outlawed by name in nys assault weapon ban, but

Why is it that certain ak's and variants (eg poly technologies) are explicitly outlawed under NYS assault weapon ban, but the izmach is not explicitly outlawed by name?


What is the design difference?

Stupidity. Cosmetic legislation. There is no real reason. There certainly is no good reason.

It probably boiled down to the fact that the companies specifically named refused monetary contribution to political campaign funds. That makes more sense than anything else I can think of, knowing how this state operates.



ETA: (I'm not saying the ones NOT specifically named did contribute.)
