topmaul 42
Last year at the Courage Classic 3 gun match I saw plenty of S-12s with Magazine Wells, so this year I got on the band wagon when a friend of mine had a S-12 for sale he let me have it for $500.00. I set about converting it using CSS for parts. Anyway I'm having difficulties with the gun itself not the fault of the magazine well. I'll be ironing out the issues with the gun over the next few months. Since my WONDER S-12 was not ready for the match last weekend I took my old reliable (worn out 2001 Saiga) to the match the gun did great exexpt for one stage were it was a disaster after that the gun ran outstanding. It's not equipped with a mag well and I thing I used my MD arms 20 rd drum on every stage it also ran wonderfully. Also used my Russian 8 rd mags that are close to perfect. So what do you guys think Mag Well or Drum and rock and lock? Thanks for your opinions I'm trying to get a conversation going. My answer is both I have on S-12 with a mag well and one without mostly because I have a number of different mags and I don't want to grind on my Russian 8s.
Doug Hartley 526
You know what I run, but if you like the drum mags either go bare back or use the Rock and Lock. For the cost, you could get a rock and lock and see how it runs. You don't like it you're not out much. Doug
MLM0358 107
I use an R and R magwell. The ergonomics are very similar to the AR so all my muscle memory works. I like straight insertion and having no problems inserting a mag on a closed bolt. It also works well with coupled mags.
snafu360 21
I have the JT magwell with surefire mags. Couldn't be more happier with the outcome.
topmaul 42
I think my next 3 gun match the Courage Classic I'll be using my mag well on my new Saiga.
Joseph 141
Hey quick question, does the Rock N lock work with rifles? and i love my drums so i could never install a mag well sadly
gpqueen 545
Hey quick question, does the Rock N lock work with rifles? and i love my drums so i could never install a mag well sadly It will only work with the Saiga 12. For regular USPSA shooting matches the magwells out are the way to go, but as Doug stated they will not work with the drums. If you are shooting Outlaw matches with no mag capacity limits the drums are great to use depending on the stages.
topmaul 42
Must have done something wrong with my mag well so I'm going to the next match rock and lock with drums.

farmrboy 0
When I built my s12 3 yrs ago, I installed a JT well right away and haven't second-guessed my decision. As said earlier, just like loading an ar.
topmaul 42
Those pix are old, right now I'm determined to make my magwell gun work. It's going to be great.
