Armed Hunter 10
Okay I'm really stuck here, I want a saiga, but I'm having a hard time figuring which? I Like the idea of 5.45 cheap ammo, and reliablity, plus the feeling that you have a AK74! But also I like the idea of the Saiga 12 with it's brute power and hunting/security capablities. SO which should I get?I have 3 to 6 months to decide on which to get, so no rush. Edited July 15, 2011 by Armed Hunter
dowork1021 64
I say saiga 12 just for the fun factor. Once you get it to cycle bulk pack federal, its a kick in the pants. Plus I love the looks people give when you bust out the drum at the range. But I am just voting s12 just because I own one and not a 5.45.
sgmgsg9 6
BOTH & ONE IN 7.62 AND 5.56. That would complete the golf club set so to speak, giving you a Caliber for every contingency. 8) Edited July 15, 2011 by sgmgsg9

ironhead7544 35
For a first one, I vote the 5.45. Cheap mags and ammo. Good SHTF gun too.
bigdog6421 2
If you dont have a S12 your life is empty and void of meaning. I am on board with buying 3 of each and starting a small armory, but the first has to be an S12!!
elvis christ 451
I'd go for a saiga 12, if I were to get a 5.45, i'd probably buy a parts kit and build it, or drop the cash on an arsenal or a professionally built 74 parts kit.
Scott Kenny 144
S12 first. The 5.45 is not a bad weapon, but very little says 'the party is over for you' like hearing Mr. Kalashnikov clear his throat in a darkened house. Also, more fun at the range...
