Johnathan T 1
Hello everyone. I got this Yankee Hill Machine - 22 Mite sound suppressor just to experience one. I put 20 rounds through it, with subsonic ammo. I shot it dry. I had a blast or should I say a whisper. Now it can be yours for only $250. This includes what I got when I paid for it: sound suppressor (wrapped in original bubble wrap), tool to open it for cleaning, instruction manual, lubrication, box it came in, & YHM sticker. Payment will be through PayPal. Once received, we can start the Class 3 paperwork, then shipment. Serious offers only. Edited July 20, 2011 by Lovin Life
Johnathan T 1
This has been used on a Savage semi-auto .22 rifle. No automatic fire. When not in use, it is removed from the rifle, wrapped in cloth, and stored in the gun case the .22 is in. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Shandlanos 1,470
Is this on a form 4 or form 3? If on a form 4, is this for sale only to residents of NC, or are you paying the first transfer to out-of-state buyers? Also, is this the stainless model, or aluminum? Johnathan T 1
Hello Shandlanos. It's nice to meet you. This is my first time selling a Class 3 item. What are you referring to when you speak of a form 4 or form 3? You'll have to wait for me to get back to you on the 2nd question, as I don't know the answer. I need to get win touch with a Class 3 dealer who won't rip me off, like the guy who sold this to me. It is the aluminum model. Model #3340 Please, if you have resources that can point me in the direction of finding some Class 3 dealers near Charlotte, NC it would be a great help. If you have anymore questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
MCASgt New River 10,037
For a state-by-state FFL/SOT list click HERE. I wish you had posted this about 6 months sooner...I just moved from Jacksonville about 3 months ago. I assume this is on Form 4 as you said your looking for a dealer that wont rip you off and you are in possession verses a dealer being in possession of the Mite. If you ever get out to Swansboro/Hubert area I can recommend a great dealer. Will you pay for the 1st transfer for an out of state sell OR are you looking to sell this in North Carolina ONLY? Thanks, MCASSgt New River
Shandlanos 1,470
If the item is on a Form 4 (you personally possess it and are not a dealer, so this must be the case), it works like this: Basically, you can sell it to another resident of your state, who will pay the $200 transfer. When you purchased it from your dealer, he was listed as the transferor on the form - you were the transferee. When you sell it to an in-state buyer, he will fill out the same form and go through the same process, but you will be the transferor, and he the transferee. When the form comes back from the ATF, it will come to you - once the form is approved and in your possession, you can transfer possession of the suppressor, along with the approved form 4, to the buyer. Selling to an out-of-state buyer is more complex, and simply not worth it in most cases for suppressors. You cannot transfer a suppressor to an unlicensed individual in another state. You would transfer the can to a dealer in his home state - this transfer is not tax-free, costing $200. Then the in-state dealer transfers the suppressor to the buyer, incurring a second $200 transfer tax. $400 worth of taxes makes the can $650 for the buyer - purchasing it in-state new would cost about $450-$525 from most dealers (assuming about 7% sales tax). With more expensive title II firearms, the cost of the first transfer is usually borne by the purchaser. Selling a relatively inexpensive NFA item across state lines has the unfortunate added burden of more tax than the value of the item. If you pay the first transfer tax, you will effectively be selling the can for $50 - clearly not worth it for you. If you require the buyer to pay the tax, it costs them more than buying a new one locally - clearly not worth it for them. You're basically stuck finding an in-state buyer, or accepting a paltry amount of money. Edited July 21, 2011 by Shandlanos
Johnathan T 1
Thanks Shandlanos for taking the time to give me that information. Hoo-rah Devil Dog. To my fellow civilians, that was a thank you to MCASSgt New River in his own language. As of right now, the sale will be made in-state. Because you two helped me, I will continue to search for a Class 3 dealer that will lower the transfer price. Keep in touch with this thread.
Johnathan T 1
I could not find any class 3 dealers that would lower their transfer fee. Looks like I'm keeping the suppressor. If anyone lives within driving distance to NC and wants it, let me know. I'll drive to you.
Shandlanos 1,470
I could not find any class 3 dealers that would lower their transfer fee. Looks like I'm keeping the suppressor. If anyone lives within driving distance to NC and wants it, let me know. I'll drive to you. Just a friendly note, to make sure you don't do something illegal unintentionally - you cannot transfer possession of the suppressor to another party until the approved Form has been returned by the ATF. In the case of an intrastate Form 4, the Form will be returned to you, the transferor, at which time you would give both the approved Form and the suppressor to the buyer. The transfer will take around 3 months, give or take. On a side note, letting somebody use the can under your direct supervision does not qualify as a transfer of possession, so it is perfectly legal to let somebody use your Title II toys in your presence, and you can certainly allow a potential buyer to demo the can. Edited to add: Driving distance to NC isn't the only thing that matters - you can only directly transfer the can to someone who is a resident of NC, unless they are a federally licensed dealer.
