I was cleaning up my garage and re-discovered this.

I found this while working on a construction job back in my younger days.

I was given the job of breaking down a very old crane. It had a ballast box on the back that was used as a counter weight.

That box was full of all kinds of scrap metal and this little beauty.

It has a brass ring around the base and it is dated 1943. You can also make out the 75mm and the M72 on the ring.

Thought some of you fellas might find this interesting. The 7.62 X 39 round is added to show relative size.

It makes one hell of a paper weight. 027.gif

I hope for your sake that's a solid, not HE or HEI projectile!

M72 was a solid steel AP round.

It still bounced off the front of the Tiger tanks though.009.gif

Yeah thats the basic AP round the Sherman used for most of the war. It did ALOT of bouncing off Tigers and Panthers....nice find, ya never know, ya might find a collector for it.

Wow Dave hell yeah man! Thanks for sharing. I have some old ordinance pieces a friend gave me, who grew up in the vicinity of Ft Bragg. Need to clean the rust off of them and see what they are sometime. Definitely not "hot", any of it.... They do make good door stops, like some other firearms related products...lol.
