wdavid431 0
Bought a NIB Saiga. Wondering how long the paper and preventive dust they are packaged in will last?

liberty -r- death 1,445
From posts else where and other information I have seen the corrosion preventative should last for around 3-4 years. Obviously if you live in an area that has a lot of humidity that time will be reduced but there is no way to say for certain how long it will work in an arid or humid environment. But like it has already been posted it's kinda nasty stuff, and some what toxic. I'd be kinda concerned to keep it around if you have kids or pets that could be exposed to it. You'd probably be much better off and safer it you gave the gun a light coat of oil, put in a plastic hard case, and put some bags of desicate in the case for long term storage. there is also a company that makes a static bag just for storing guns, but I can't think of the name of it off hand.
