THX1138 7
Hello all, I just finished my Saiga .223 conversion and it shoots very well. Well enough that I am thinking about putting a scope on the rifle. My question is this: Do any of you have any experience with one of these scopes? http://www.aimsportsinc.com/catalog/index.php?l=product_detail&p=429 I don't know anything about this company or their products. Any input you could give me would be great. Thanks in advance.
Mephis 82
Optics... are a bit more complicated than buying some random thing. POSP from kalinka unless you really know your stuff and have a way to mount it.

I have mounted scopes before, built my first hunting rifle when I was 17, I am 48 now. Edited July 28, 2011 by THX1138
Mephis 82
Mounting a scope on an AK is a bit different... There's nothing much to mount to. You can get a side mount and attempt putting a scope on that way, but they usually end up pretty wonky. The most nominal is using a PO/POSP or any optic that directly interfaces to the side rail. At the current time there's just not many good mounts for putting a regular scope on an AK, at least as solidly as I would be happy with.
beefcakeb99 572
You could try the TWS rail...

You can look into red dots if you don't like the 4x, and I have never heard anyone complain about the POSP. Pretty good quality too.
Deadeye 325
the dph beryl rail is a good option for a solid mount not cheap though http://dpharms.com/product_info.php?products_id=1000

I researched the BP-02 mount, and for the money that looks pretty good. the dph beryl rail is a good option for a solid mount not cheap though http://dpharms.com/p...roducts_id=1000 I will check it out, I hadnt considered one of those mounts. I am building a 5.45 for a friend and he has a 2 x 6 POSP coming in, I will check it out. Are the variable power POSPs good? I know that the 4x are pretty tough, I just like the extra magnification with my old eyes. Thank you for getting back to me.
CPF 80
Not sure about the variable magnification scopes, I happen to have an 8x and its great. Just get a higher magnification if you want.

A friend of mine found a BP02 mount at a pawn shop for a really good price and I found a good deal on a Redfield 2-7 power scope. I have read good reviews about the mount and I know that Redfield is being made by Leupold now ( I have had really good luck with Leupold scopes) so this the route I am going. Thanks for cluing me in on the POSP scopes, I am saving up to convert another Saiga and I will be using one of the POSP scopes on it, I am just not sure which Saiga I am going to convert (a 5.56 or a 5.45 or maybe a .308), this could become addictive..
