fflincher 8
I couldn't find it in any of the posts I looked at on the Saiga forums, so I asked diffen.com. They said: "Magazines "Magazines for both rifles are similar except for the minor changes in dimensions to accommodate different size cartridges. AK-74 magazines are polymer, and have a raised horizontal rib on each side of the rear lug to prevent their use in a 7.62x39mm AK." So, please help me here if I'm off base. I already missed out on the group buy of 45 rounders. Does this mean my 7.62X39 magazines will hold and feed the 5.45? And in an emergency I could shave off the horizontal ribs on each side of the AK-74 magazines to use them for the 7.62X39 round in my AK-47s?
Fallschirmjager667 729
no, the curve of the mag is different, it may feed 1 or 2 rounds but nothing past that
WhiskeyMinion 300
I always thought the ribs were for stripper clip loading
Arik 565
You don't have to buy 45 rounders. Copes has Polish steel mags for under $15 and centerfire has the 4 pack of used Bulgarian mags for something like $40+shipping.
BigChongus 765
47 mags wont even fit into the well.
dmac27 17
I love my steel Polish mags...I couldn't even imagine using a 45 round mag. I think they are too long...

Prone shooting? Even a 30rd mag is too long for that. 45rd mags are almost exactly as long as a 10rd S12 mag. It's all in what you get used to.
