TWGLADF 0
joeken advertises the original ultra rare smooth slab side metal mags that were originally made for the ak-47. they are just like the polish synthetics but all metal. i believe they are wanting around $40 bucks a piece though! would be worth it if they are in excellent condition. the only reason i'd buy em was the coolness/looks factor. my $5 ak mags work perfectly and always have. i just can't justify paying that much for a mag just for the looks right now. cvasqu03 21
I bought one for about $8 about 9 years ago back when I was trying to get one of each for collection purposes. I also bought one of the orange bakelite chinese mags in 7.62x39 for about the same price. If I'd known how much these two models would increase in price I'd have bought a lot more. TWGLADF 0
i'm sure they are very good and i would buy the hell out of em if they were cheaper. and yes, i have heard to beware of joeken. actually the name threw my guard up. joeken................slang for joking. say it really fast. anyway, it's the same with saiga mags also as far as the hindsight goes. i guess it's a good idea to buy alot of a good deal just in case they may be worth some money some day. i bought saiga 308 mags for $8 a piece. saiga 12 mags for $20. tapco used to have new 20 round tanker mags for $4.99. now they are close to $10, and i've seen the same mag on other sites for $20+. actually, i read up on some history of those slabside ak mags and word has it the russian soldiers preferred the slabsides in their chest pouches b/c they provided better protection from the ballistics of the enemy rounds. now thats one hell of a durable magazine. lets see if that polish synthetic will stop a bullet. jon elia 0
none of them will stop a buller check out www.theboxoftruth.com i think it is they shoot at ak mags loaded and see what happens
IndyArms 10,186
I JUST TRIED the box of truth website... I had it bookmarked from long ago... "SORRY this website is TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE!!" WTF?!?!?! bummer.... Game over, MAN... GAME OVER!!!!
hoop762 0
they may not take a direct hit but i could see one stopping a glacing hit....not that im willing to test that theory....ill leave that up to someone else
TWGLADF 0
sure you could test that theory. just prop em up against a good backstop and go at it. i wouldn't advise to shoot at em loaded, but i'm sure that they were loaded while in their chest pouches. that would be crazy! see a guy get shot in the magazine in his chest pouch and a couple of the rounds that were in the mag take out a couple guys next to him. damn! IndyArms 10,186
Without a chamber and barrel to direct the bullet upon ignition of the powder, they dont really fly out of a blown up case quite like they would out of a barrel... I would bet that they would prolly not take out guys next to them.. well, maybe they would... but not like a bullet wound... just a shrapnel wound... LOL
hoop762 0
if some one wants to donate a mag id be happy to test it out
dodgeturbointerceptor 1
hmmm.....never heard it taught in the military that mags were ever expected to help stop, or slow a round..... one of those things people just say i guess.... i use mine for ammo.
