Question on FSB replacement

Recommended Posts

I have started to convert my 7.62 since the 5.45x39 went so smooth. with the 7.62 i have a threaded barrel (surprised) where with the 5.45 i didn't and used a 24mm fsb.

So my question are:

where can i find a new fsb without the 24mm threads and shorter than the stock one I beat to remove (can't reuse it)? I looked around and couldn't find one listed at the usual places listed here on this forum used for conversion parts.

second, I'll need a the flash hider with 14mm threads, would like the ak74 style if possible.

thx cas

If you haven't already removed the FSB; you can use a $10 pipe cutter at Lowe's and cut the shroud on your existing FSB. You shouldn't have to replace the factory FSB if you cut the shroud and have factory threads.

no I messed the thing up getting it off and now it isn't usable. would i would really like is a chinese one, i like the circle around the front sight more than the ears.

but beggers can't be to chosey. i just don't want to spend $70 for the block then another 30 on the fh. there has to be a cheaper way to go.

thanks for the reply

i gave no measurements but the only barrels sized in .591 that i know of are 20" barrel 223 saigas. as far as i know that is a standard size ak block and should fit a standard barreled saiga fine. where did you find other information on measurements of this block for my future reference? i dont want to recommend wrong items.

I'm wondering this as well, I need something that is a direct replacement of the FSB since mine is kind of messed up.

i know the bulgarian 24mm threads fits a standard saiga just fine, as to why i presume the bulgarian without threads would be the same.

K-Var posts the sizes. the ,591 is the size where the gas block is, the saiga's seem to be stepped down to .571. i'm playing around in my head to cut and recrown the muzzle and tig a fh on, keeping the 16" oa. i'll prob end up just spending the extra bucks and bee down with it.
