A few years ago I bought a stripped lower, then when the "Great Panic" happend I bought a DPMS upper which featured a full size gas system on an 16 inche barrel it had an A-2 upper. Since then I put a flat top on and a flip up front site.

eventually I put a Viper PST 1 to 4 zoom tactical scope I'm very happy with my rifle

A lot of my parts are from the Rainier Arms bargin bin so I did save a little money there.

The gun has an Ace stop full size buffer and spring,

Olymic Arms Fire control group

Rainier Arms flat top upper

SNS Lower

Troy ambi mag release

Safety is reversed for left

CAA pistol grip

AFG Fore grip

Full length hand guards

Flip up front site

Muzzle break

The gun runs great! I'm very proud of it.

I picked up a Bushmaster with the A3 upper and a 20” heavy barrel because at the time one group I shot with was using a 300 yard range for a lot of their matches. Put on a Millet 1-4 DMS and have been very happy with how well it shoots. While it’s not a claim to fame for the rifle / scope it will shoot better than I can. Could use a better trigger on this but I haven’t got around to it yet. I got one of the MWG 90 round drums that I used a few times, it work fine but was clumsy to handle so just went back to 30 round sticks.

Because so many of the matches I was going to got to be much shorter on the distance being shot less than 50 yards and in some cases just point blank in a shoot house I picked up a 9mm Mech Tech carbine that uses the receiver off a Glock. I put an old Tasco Pro Point dot on it and have been happy with it too. Will say the trigger sucks pretty bad, it’s actually worse than on the pistol because of the striker spring used and I wish they had some kind of better iron sight set up for this carbine so I wouldn’t have to use a dot.

Set up works well with both the 33 round Glock and Korean mags. I drop the 9mm conversion barrel in my Glock 24 or use my 17L and only have to haul one caliber ammo for the rifle and pistol. If I was going to be more active I’d pick up the 40 cal version of this to make major pistol.

I started shooting 3 gun with a stock Rock River 16" carbine and an ACOG TA-31F scope. Found that the ACOG was fine for distance but sucked up close. Switched to a Meopta 1-4 Kdot and later to a Swarovski Z6i 1-6 circle dot. Now I have the Swaro 1-6 BRT and that scope is unbeliveable! Rifle has morphed over the years and now sports a JP 20" upper with lightened bolt and adjustable gas system, JP trigger, Magpul M1AD grip and PRS stock (both of which are tan so I can find my gun in the rifle rack with 10 others). I have shot groups around 2" at 300 yards with this gun using Black Hills 68 gr match ammo. Some people might find it a little heavy, but it works for me and is very stable.

I have a new Seekins Precision lower that I won earlier this year and I want to build that up this winter and use it next season. It has some neat features including a built in ambi bolt release. I'll post pictures when I get it finished.

I've won a few matches with this gun and made first round hits on the 600 yard target at Rocky Mountain 2 years in a row.

I'm trying to use my PSL for 3gun. Just need higher-capacity magazines and a lower-power scope**. The Vortex 6.5-20 is a bit overkill for most shooting!

Mods are:

Rhineland Arms tiger maple stock (for longer length-of-pull)

Tapco G2 single-hook trigger.

The Vortex sits on a Kalinka SVD scope with the extra, short rail section on the side.

** I suppose I could just use the TIP2...

Mods left to do:

figure out how to make the Valmet M26 mags fit into the magwell, and attach locking lugs to them.

See you at any match in Parma, ID next fall!

I shoot at two 3-Gun matches, one is pretty much 80 yard or less and requires a PCC, so technically it's a 4-Gun match. The other is CQB for 3 stages, then a 100 yard stage, then a 500 yard stage. One of my 6.8 SPC builds is set up specifically for this match, as I have no problems nailing the 500 yard steel, whereas 90% of the other competitors have trouble hitting the 385 yard steel with their poodle shooters. I'd love to hit more matches, but time constraints and the fact that most of them are on Sundays or weekdays kills my ability to get to them.

My 3 gun rifle is a mildly modified SS Mini 14. I use Ruger factory 20 rd mags as they only let you load 10 around here. It has a Power Custom (I think) extended mag release, and a Burris 1-4X with one of their Fastfire red dots on the rear ring, bought it as a package with a set of XTR rings to boot, all crammed on a Weigand adaptor rail set in the factory wood stock. Been bedded, had a 2 1/2 pound trigger job, and has an M-14 style flash hider I bought back in the day. Haven't won a match yet, but I'm in the top 4 every time. Just need to work on fundamentals and I think I'll have her.

I have just done an about face on my 3 gun rifle. I had an Olympic Arms Plinker a pretty old one this gun was the one of the cheapest ARs on the market. I've had it for years and I've shot it for years. The gun never once jammed on me and I'm not religious about cleaning it. Also the gun has always been very accurate. But It had an A-1 carry handle set up and was not exactly sexy.

So last week I put a flat top on it and a new gas block then I put my 1x4 30mm variable scope on it.

Weight is an issue with my other AR. It was getting too heavy.

For the record what brand upper did you go with (DPMS from the start of this thread)? I got an old Oly carbine (one on the left in the photo above) the other day with a A1 upper and looking at going to a flat top.

I wend with Rainier Arms upper on both my ARs. I like to keep things standard. It allows for flexibility in the field if necessary. I have an opinion on flat top ARs here it goes if you have a flat top get rid of that front sight but a flat gas block on or a flip up. I am all about nothing in my field of view to obscure targets.

Above is my Rainier Arms/DPMS all finished I had a tube style red dot and thought I'd try the C-More and it works fine with the 3x Vortex magnifier.

Below is my Mega Plinker is an old cast Olympic Arms Plinker they used to cost about $400 and were both accurate and reliable but the upper and lower were cast and came with an A1 upper which was a bit annoying. It's a pretty bad ass gun now.
