green furniture?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, i am planning my first conversion project and i like the look of the green grip, handguard and stocks. Can anyone recommend a particular manufacturer / supplier. I prefer the ergo pistol grip style.

BTW thankyou all for all the useful information you have posted here, what a valuable resource!

K-var's furniture is robust and an excellent choice. Hogue makes both a pistol grip and a handguard that are very nice as well. Tapco's stuff is functional and inexpensive, but it can be cheesy-looking and less resilient than K-var. I have all three manufacturers' wares on a number of different guns.

Did a conversion on wife's rifle earlier this year.

Another +1 on the K-var furniture being tough stuff. There's a slight color variation in the plastic pieces. The Hogue grip and Bulgy mag are a little different too but the variations don't look bad together.

Good luck on your first conversion.

Your options are above. I also agree, K-VAR is the way to go. Their furniture is a faithful copy of Russian spec, down to the heat shield in the handguard. Tapcos rear stock looks similar but isn't as beefy where it attaches to the receiver. That said, mine has held up to light use just fine.

Pistol grips are from the various manufacturers are equally good. Get the ergo one you want.

Hey guys!

Just a quick heads up, we got word that the 30 round OD green mags in 7.62 x 39 (part M-47WG) will not be produced anymore. From what I was told, they were part of some special contract and they don't think we'll be able to import any more. So if you're thinking of doing the conversion, now is definitely good timing =)

Feel free to call or email me if you have any questions!

I saw that the price on the OD mags hadn't changed on MidwayUSA when the price of the black magazines went up recently. I bought a couple more just in case! It's sad that the OD magazines aren't being continued. Even if they don't match one's outfit, they're still among the best magazines for the rifle.

Good timing on conversion indeed. Guess the OD will be like plum mags now. Surprised to see Midway didn't raise their price.

Do like the green more than I thought I would, and the wife really likes the color coded rifle/mag set up.

  • 1 year later...

I can see I'm a little late on this thread, but am wondering. I am just now starting my conversion of my Saiga (currently all stock parts, including skeletal stock) and Im wanting all OD green furniture. I also want to be able to use 30 round magazines. So, that being said, I want to change out the furniture to be able to use a 922r compliant 30 round magazine.

So the question: How many parts do I need to replace with US parts (Im already thinking buttsock, pistol grip, handgaurd and mag) to make it compliant, and is Kvar furniture compliant?

Also, what other brand is recommended? I see a lot of Tapco stuff. (Though Tapco doesn't have it in green)
