S223 conversion with AR mag well

Recommended Posts

So I'm still confused.

Say I'm a left-handed shooter and want to drop the AR mag with my left trigger finger (like a righty does with a stock AR), does it work this way or not?

No it comes with releases on both sides but the left side is out of reach of the trigger finger. That's what I'm making a fix for.

Oooooooooooohh scary scary..... Gotta "hack" it up to make it work? Not really....

People don't get alarmed, it's not difficult at all to make any of the modifications it takes to use the MSA adapter. BTW this "borrowed pic" is mine.

And just to let y'all know, I am currently working with a disabled shooter and designing and making a new part that will be available next year (not far in the future...) that will indeed allow the left handed shooter to release the mag with the trigger finger of the left hand, just like the right side works now,... and still have the option to use the regular left side release on the adapter.

Post updates on the progress of LHS release; I am interested.

Speaking of modding: my IzhMash (non-Legion) Saiga was imported by US Sporting Goods, H091644XX.

I've got it working and like the final results; I wish my efforts were on a lighter side.

Therefore, any shared experience is appreciated.

Always happy to help if you want to PM me with a question.

For us opressed Saiga owners in CA, anyone know if either adapter can somehow incorporate a bullet button (such as a raddlock)? I'd love to be able to use one mag for both AR and S223.

Thanks

You should ask Mike Thomas (a.k.a. Renegade Buck).

I'd like to think he should be willing to help (he's certainly ABLE to do it).

PM me for his e-mail if interested.

(P.S. I know how you feel: I left Commiefornia 4 years ago just to see it getting more and more socialist. Vote your Commies out of the office!).

The current adapter won't without some heavy modification. The BASTARD is supposed to accept standard AR mag catches whenever it comes out. So the raddlock and bullet button should work in it, as well as ambi catches like the Norgon.

There are more than few threads floating on this forum (including this one, which is already great source of information).

Run search and you'll find your answers.

Unless I'm missing something new and big, AR adapters market dominated by two types:

- MSA

- Renegade Buck

But before you start your rifle modifications for AR adapter, did you consider hi-cap AK .223 mags (Beryl, Arsenal, Surefire/SGM, ProMag, Tapco, etc)?

If you want to bypass AK mag, here is a crude list of topics; sort it out to your likings.

Good Luck,

Happy Shooting!

My first post here, new to forum ...

I've been entertaining the thought of the Mag adapter as well but from what I've read the Renegade Buck may be a less intrusive by way of milling out the receiver, please advise? If that is correct could I get contact info for Renegade Buck

Thanks in advance

Sorry for the newbie question but could any confirm the Renegade Buck requires less metal be removed and does one system have an advantage over the other?

EDIT:

Disregard, I think I found my answer here

I just received my renegadebuck adapter in the mail. It pops right in on my legion. I am patiently awaiting a new shipment of mags in various sizes and brands before I can say if it works with little to no grinding yet. I will post what comes of it in the very near future.

Soooo, had to do a little more removal of the trunnion than anticipated, but it was fairly easy. No issues cycling rounds out with GI mags and poly mags thus far. Gotta take 'er to the range to see how it handles to be certain.

can you post some pics of the process?

There should be pics on here. Its just a little material to remove from the 2 protruding portions of the trunnion until the mag sits high enough for the bolt to catch rounds and the front of the mag is at the same height as the original ramp attached to the mag.

fair enough figured I'd ask. I was hoping perhaps I'd get another view since I'm still on the fence about attempting this....
