What type of reciever?

Recommended Posts

Would be best for a Tapco Parts kit (semi-auto)Romanian?

I bought the parts kit to store just to have parts when the ATF goons outlaw importation again, and got a real nice kit..good finish, etc..so I may get a reciever to throw the parts on just for the hell of it...

how much should I pay for a stripped reciever?

Thanks.

There are no "stripped" receivers -there are only NEW US made receivers, or, receiver blanks...some people have built on Saigas.

That was the basis of the whole problem with the ATF (another story).

Prices vary (as quality) on US receivers -I'd look thru a Shotgun News to see currently what is available. It seems they run $100 plus to $200.

Remember, these must be treated as a complete gun as far as the ATF is concerned -unless, it is a blank (a unbent "flat").

The correct receiver type for your kit would be whatever is right for the weapon receiver the parts were removed from -most certainly, a stamped 1mm thick european type...but check (get the model of the parent weapon).

Unless you are going to get into building ak's the finished receiver would be the way to go, takes tooling to easily finish the blanks(the bends have to be right, without a jig, think it would be tough). Read up on the various receivers, theres plenty of information out there.
