TheDeacon 168
Okay, I'm lost on this problem. Advice seriously needed. My 3-9x42 scope seems to have had the relief and magnification rings seize up. Has been stored in my safe since about March, when it was working correctly. Turning the rings has always been a bit stiff, but this is entirely new to me. It's been a good scope and would rather not have to replace it right now. Suggestions? Advice? (help?) JohnNicholasM 7
Hmm. All the usual stuff one would try to un-stick something might damage the scope. Definitely would not try penetrating oil. Maybe gently heating with a hair dryer might loosen up it up. Scopes I have taken apart in the past had been assembled with a small amount of stiff grease on the threads of the focus rings etc. John

TheDeacon 168
And the story has a good ending. The original vendor no longer carries or services that model but exchanged it for an equivalent. Seems to be a common issue on some of the $100-$150.00 scopes made in China.
