oldpara 0
Hi All, New to this forum, just bought a new Saiga. 16-16.5" barrel, black plastic conventional rifle stock. My question is: Do I need to modify this weapon to make it "legal" ? It's new out of the box recent manufacture. My old SKS, yes I most likely have to take the spike bayo off and on and on and on...... Thanks
jimdigriz 580
No. It is imported in a legal configuration. If you want to restore it to a proper AK configuration, you will have to exchange some Russian parts for some American ones.
jbanzai 113
Is that a question about the SKS?
Scott Kenny 144
Your Saiga is perfectly legal as she sits, UNLESS you put high-capacity magazines in her. Then you would need to play the 922r parts-count game. However, restoring your saiga to original design is pretty easy to do, *and* you can then use whatever magazines you feel like.
oldpara 0
Thankyou guys. No, the SKS comment wasn't a question, I know it should be worked on, but it's such a nice looking old weapon as is. I haven't shot the Saiga yet, I'm assuming it will go bang being an AK design. I bought a couple of ProMag 20rnd mags but reading the forum I'm seeing the ProMags aren't the best way to go for reliability. What would I need to do to use standard AK mags? Again thanks for the info and help.
