zeppelin03 0
I just got done with my first conversion and it came out great. Now I am moving on to a second one for my girlfriend. She requested that the gun be teal or red, so now I must duracoat. I would like to paint the entire gun. Is this an issue? I am not sure if any spots on an ak shouldn't be coated. BOB A. BOOEY 45
Red? Why not pink?
finishman2000 2
all of my conversions (5 so far) have been done with duracoat. i scrub the gun with prep solv and a scothbrite pad. some of the factory black will come and that;s fine. use foam ear plugs in the barrel and chamber and spray away. Mitch535 29
I duracoated mine. I stripped it down to just the receiver and barrel and sandblasted it all, then applied my duracoat and am very happy with the result.
ktz784 0
duracoat is the best.... get the $45.oo ezkit. Teardown your rifle, use expensive automotive masking tape to tape off area that you don't want to paint. degrese the area, (degreaser comes with the kit), then follow duracoat instructions. My friend, i have tried that home depot paint " heat temp stuff", the paint just melted with the hoppes No.9 solvents rubbing on topoff it.
farmrboy 0
I took the parts I wanted a different color to my gunsmith and got them cerakoted. It cost a little more, but the finish is alot tougher and doesnt dent like duracoat.
