rrr70 5
Did the conversion today. Everything went smooth until G2 set installation. Here is the problem. When trigger held back after releasing the hammer disconnector holds hammer locked. When releasing the trigger to reset it, hammer is released. I don't think it should be working this way. Ordered 2-stage Arsenal kit. I hope it's a US made one. Pissed off to no end!
vulcan16 971
If you have this Tapco retaining plate, the dog ear may be holding the hammer back. I had to grind a little off to get enough clearance.
spamviking 1
Are you saying that the hammer is fully released like you pulled the trigger or is the hammer just released so that it moves forward slightly? The latter option is the way the FCG is supposed to function, to the best of my knowledge.
joek4061 6
Did you transfer the disconnector spring from the original fire control group?

A few years back Tapco had a batch of G2 disconnectors that had a spring hole too deep and this made the disconnector malfunction. A certain ak parts company has distributed short 12 coil disconnector springs which I remember causing this same issue.
imarangemaster 315
Also, sometimes re-using the Saiga factory disconnector spring can cause a same situation. I had one that was too short.
rrr70 5
Short spring make sence. It did feel like there isn't enough tension on disconnector. I'll try to pus something in the disconnector holle tomorrow to put a bit more tension on the spring.

It is there to give you a surface to push it down into place, no other reason.
rrr70 5
I am a MORON! I was trying to install hammer upside down! Duh! That's what happen when I work without beer. All is good now. Installed bullet guide and if weather cooperate, I'll be testing rifle this Sunday.
imarangemaster 315
You're not the first (I know, because I did it once when I first got into AKs), and won't be the last. Now when you get "AK finger sizzle" from grabbing the hand guard too close to the barrel, you will be a full member of the club!
