Gas Puck? How to install?

Recommended Posts

How are these being installed. huh.png ???

Since they are only about $8 I was wondering do you just drop them infront of the gas piston and thats it?

I'm surprise that counts as a part if your not removing any russian part. If that is all there is to it...

Maybe I'm wrong?

I didn't see this in any pervious post that I searched...

No, do not buy that, they cause cycling issues. How does your gun cycle with the factory puck? Go with either an Md arms or a CSS puck.

Depress the spring loaded gas block detent pin and unscrew the gas adjustment knob on the front of the saiga

Remove and replace the gas puck

Reinstall the gas adjustment knob on the front of the saiga by screwing in with the spring loaded gas block detent pin depressed.

Once the gas adjustment knob is seated release the spring loaded gas block detent pin

Unscrew the gas adjustment knob until the pin engages the catch on the desired setting. (1 or 2)

NOT A US PART!!!!! (for 922r parts count)

They are the easiest part to instal and require no tools, but tools do aid in the instal.

How is it not a 922r part? The US manufacture says it is, Not sure how long the BATFE would let them say it is if it isn't.

It cycles fine I was just curious about how easy it was to install since it appears to be an extra 922r part...

Looks like this has been highly debated.... I understand its not on the parts count list but that doesn't mean its not an 922r part... Why would the manufacturer be saying it was if it wasn't...

It is a 922R part. It is USA Made. I have one, in one of mine. It works fine. It measures the same as the factory puck It is the same part, in stainless with USA engraved on it. If your factory puck works, this should too. Maybe there are variations in tolerance. More likely, people just can't believe something is good unless it costs more. If you don't trust tapco, the $10 MD puck is fine too.

Per the latest 922r letter both the puck, and the bolt carrier extension (the part that would be the piston on an AK ) are 922r counted parts: the puck is the "piston", and the bolt carrier extension is an "operating rod".

Which one is Tapco and which is Izzy?

It can go in either way. The booster type pucks are directional.

Me too. The KA tappet works as advertised. (Well enough for MD to copy the design and charge half as much)

MM__ Contest is over-- because I can't remember.

The factory puck doesn't matter which way you drop it in.

Kinda funny how simple a part it is. just drops in and rattles around inside your gun (when clean)... lol

Russian simplicity.

Mine works so much better with the factory puck compared to the reliability kit. I put in the css puck and new gas knob with 5 settings. I mean i didn't use the reduced recoil spring but it took setting 5 before it would cycle low brass where setting 1 will work on factory puck. I figured id use them for better gas cycling and 5 settings for gas but looks like ill be staying with the factory setup
