jselke 0
Hi All, I would like to hear some reviews on the Chaos quad rail for the Saiga 7.62 from those of you who have experience with it. What are your impressions? What type of optics and or other devices have you found that work well with the rail? I have ordered one and would like to know what type of optics fit the rail the best and work well for short-medium range. Red dot? Holo? Please offer some suggestions. Much appreciated! Thanks! jpnrm96 70
Hi there. First off, did you order just the Quad rail or did you get the Titan? I got the Titan for my S12 and have been tinkering around for a couple of months to come up with a sight system I can live with. I love the design of the Chaos and the quality is not to be doubted. I just wasn't fond of the HK style sights that they have for the rails. I also want to keep the AK front sight post usable and an integral part of my build. This is what I have come up with and I do believe it will be the ticket. I ordered the tall sight post from DINZAG. Brian is an awesome man to work with. He also has a vast aray of knowledge he gladly shares. Texas Weapons Systems had designed a low profile peep sight for use with their product. TAC 47 carries it and so does a company called Brownells. I had alot of luck with the folks at Brownells checking parts for me. The peep sight comes with an aperture of .071. Weaver sight company has different size apertures for their WGRS series. These have a short shank or a long shank on them. They are threaded 7/32 x 40. That tap can be purchased through Brownells along with the various sight apetures. They have a size that is 3/8 total diameter and has several size apertures. Also they have a low light series which has a brass ring inlayed into the sight surrounding the aperture. So what we have now is some customization. According to the tech @ brownells, there is enough material to drill and tap to 7/32 x 40. The center of the TWS aperture is .312 (3/8) above the surface of the rail. I am increasing the overall height of DINZAG front sight by the same amount. This gives me the windage and elevation adjustment of an AK, with the options of different sized apertures for sighting and a 22 inch sight radius. I hope this may help you. And yes, I know I'm a windy bastard....lol SIDE NOTE: Well, I just saw the rendition for the rails for the rifle. I guess my info wont help much. Check out the TWS dust cover for rifles. Nice pics @ TAC47 websight. It will carry the rail to the rear of the rifle. Edited December 12, 2011 by Twitch 0415
jselke 0
I bought just the quad rail. I was planning to put on a front mounted red dot or holographic sight. I was looking for information from people that are currently using that setup. I hadn't planned on making any changes to the iron sights on the gun. Maybe I am missing something...
