Electric bore cleaner

Recommended Posts

this link http://www.surplusrifle.com/reviews/copperout/index.asp was posted here a few months ago, and i thought it was a good idea but saw no point in using it on my nearly new saiga. well we had a gunshow here in Raleigh last weekend, so i went to pick up a couple east german mags for the saiga. im sure all of you have gone to a show before to pick up some mags or ammo and come home with a new rifel. well i got a K31 (which i am verry impressed with).

i decided to try out the electric bore cleaner on it even though it was one of the brightest bores ive ever seen. the swiss must have been verry strict on cleaning. the entire gun was nearly spotless except for some storage grease here and there. i ran a patch down the bore before the electric treatment, and it came out clean. after 20 minuts (i think my bateries died ) i pored out the barel and although it wasnt nearly as grimy as some of the pics from the link (as i said, this barel was already VERRY clean) there was still some black grime at the botem of the bucket, and the amonia and viniger had turned blue (its been a while scince my last chemistry class but i think copper can be blue or green). i then ran 5 patches with hopes 9 before they came out clean! prety amazing concidering that the bore looked new to begin with.

anyone elce tried this type of bore cleaning?

what do you think over all of the M48? what kind of groupings do you get? ive been thinking about getting a ugo mauser for a while now, especialy with how cheap 8mm is. thats my only complaint with the K31, 7.5 swiss is like 40 cents a round and ive heard a real pain in the ass to reload.

I've heard alot of good about them, but mine just plain sucks. I'll be lucky to hit the 3x3 target board 8 times out of 10 at 50 yards. maybe a new Numerich barrel is in order

The M48's have a bolt sticking problem, which was remedied on the M48A's and B's. if you get a sticky bolt just close it on the spent round, andtry it again, that usually works.
